Unfortunately this place isn’t about the love of animals and the bond between owner and animal anymore. It’s about money. I brought my dog in because she was pregnant and the vet refused to let me see the ultrasound in the back. After the ultrasound, she determined there were 3 puppies, but just to “be sure” she wanted a radiograph. Radiographs aren’t conclusive and they exposed the puppies to harmful rays. I kindly said no thanks, and the assistant started saying “well in my professional opinion, you should”, first off, you’re an assistant, not the doctor. You don’t have a professional opinion. After I declined again, they basically tried to make me feel bad about it, as if I didn’t care about my dogs. They kept pressing nonsense that was absolutely not necessary. That was all in early November. The pups were born Dec 15, at home, there were actually 9! 3 ended up stillborn, which left six. That’s so far off her 3, and I even told them, I only came to confirm pregnancy. People have been having dogs for thousands of years… when vets didn’t exist. The vet also said, not coming in roughly 48 hours after they are born is “virtually” neglect. I took a few months off of work to care for them, my dog eats all natural and I cook for her everyday: ribeye, duck breast, femur bone, bone marrow, liver, lung, heart, etc. followed by farm fresh goat milk I pick up personally in Harrison from Gaither Valley Farm. The farmer there Joe, and I have been focused on using goat milk as an optimal addition to nutrition as well as to provide natural probiotics. As far as the cooking, I mean I cook like I work at a Michelin star restaurant for her. The vet told me that was irresponsible and that even if I study and “think” I’m cooking a balanced diet for her, I’m not. I have discussed her diet with 13 nutritionists who helped me design her diet, and every vet says the same thing: she’s one of the healthiest German shepherds they’ve ever seen. What did the vet here tell me to do? Put her on commercial dog food. At that point I think the irresponsibility falls upon the vet. All the puppies couldn’t be stronger and healthier, and my theory that this vet is full of nonsense was confirmed by that.
Animal Hospital of Bentonville took great care of my pup! They have consistently been helpful and timely when getting us in for appointments. When he needed an unexpected urgent surgery, we were scared and had many questions. All of my questions were answered and thoroughly discussed before surgery was decided on. They took wonderful care of Bentley before, during, and after surgery. He recovered beautifully! He is excited to go to the vet. Their staff is very kind and so loving to our fur baby! We are so grateful for Animal Hospital of Bentonville!
The vet and staff here were patient and empathetic especially during a very difficult time and decision. We brought our pup here for diagnostics which turned quickly into making a hard decision. They provided space, time, kindness, and information for us to proceed in the path that was best for our pup. The vet took the time to explain things to us as many times as we needed and answered all of our questions with compassion and grace.
I am so very pleased with the entire experience at the Animal Hospital of Bentonville. The staff was very professional as well as personable. The atmosphere in the reception area was comfortable and clean, loved the cushioned chairs. My wait time was very minimal, I was greeted warmly and my dog was taken right in to be seen. The exam rooms were very sanitary. And there was no medicinal smell, which is present in some clinics. The staff was very knowledgeable and gracious with their findings, taking the time to answer my questions and elaborate on my concerns. I was also pleased with their prices, I felt they were very fair. I will definitely recommend going here.
My 2 year old GSD had an emergency last night. We were on the road and had called Animal Hospital of Bentonville at 5:20 explaining the situation. We were specifically told that the DR did NOT want us to come in because “with it being a large dog it will be too time consuming to perform X-Rays and radiographs so close to closing time.” She then suggests we go to another animal hospital. Mind you, we already live 20 minutes away from town and the next Animal Hospital was another 20 minutes away. We were SHOCKED. This place should call themselves a clinic, not a hospital, if they are not willing to help a dog in need regardless of the size, especially 40 minutes before they close. We would never recommend this facility to anyone. And for anyone wondering - our pup is fine now (thank goodness).
