ANTONIO SÁNCHEZ

Antonio Sánchez, a four-time Grammy Award winner hailing from Mexico City, ignited his passion for drumming at age five, swiftly entering the professional music scene in his teens. While earning a classical piano degree at Mexico’s National Conservatory, he later graduated Magna Cum Laude in Jazz Studies from Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory. Since relocating to New York City in 1999, he’s become a coveted drummer in global jazz circles, collaborating with icons like Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, and more.

In 2014, Sánchez gained acclaim for scoring Birdman, which won four Academy Awards and earned him a Grammy. His impressive discography boasts over a dozen leader and co-leader albums, including The Meridian Suite and Three Times Three. He addresses social injustice in his impactful Lines in the Sand.

Recipient of four Grammys, three Echo Awards, and a Modern Drummer “Jazz Drummer of the Year” thrice, Sánchez’s latest album SHIFT showcases his multi-instrumental talents and includes collaborations with Trent Reznor, Dave Matthews, and other luminaries.
