I brought my 8 month old Malinois here on March 19, 2024 for a spay procedure. I received a call two hours later that she had died during the procedure and was not provided an explanation of why. This was a dog who had never been sick, never had a bad day, and had a physical exam recently with no issues noted. I did not feel great about the drop off on the day of the procedure. It was extremely chaotic and I had to repeat multiple times that she was there for a spay procedure because I was not convinced the staff knew why she was there. This was different than dropoffs I've done for other procedures because it did not feel like any information was being double checked (for example, no one double checked that I had not fed her in the last 12hrs) - they spent all of ten seconds doing intake. When I first started going here I felt there was a good balance of quality and efficiency but that was not present the last couple of visits where things felt too rushed. Whether that was a factor in my puppy's death I will never know since I was given no information on what actually caused her death. I feel physically ill going anywhere near this clinic. I do not recommend.
Dr. Owen and the staff here are truly amazing souls! My little Gus needed emergency surgery and they were quick to take action and care for him properly amidst having a full schedule. My Gus is now on the road to recovery and I couldn’t be more grateful for the team here at Forty32!
Our animals have been patients of FORTY32 Animal hospital for 18 months. We had been happy with the treatment of our animals and the relationships made with vet techs and the doctor. As mentioned in other recent negative reviews, we had noticed the clinic becoming increasingly chaotic and unorganized culminating in our most recent experience shattering our trust in this animal clinic. Even more disappointing than our most recent visit was their manager’s response. Ultimately, what we have experienced from FORTY32 Animal hospital is a lack of integrity and accountability and is detailed below: 1. A fecal test was performed after we had explicitly specified and received confirmation that no fecal was to be done and a sample would be provided. We were charged for this test. 2. We were always allowed to be in the room with our dog for exams or lab tests due our dog’s severe vet anxiety that can cause aggressive behavior. On the day of this appointment, the vet tech said she wanted to try a blood draw without our presence under assurance we would be grabbed if our dog experienced distress. This was new to us because we had always been requested to be in the room during routine procedures/exams because it pacifies our dog. Our dog experienced distress that could be heard throughout the building, we were never grabbed, and our dog sustained an injury. In a call after the fact, we were told that as a matter of standing policy owners are not allowed in the back room with their pet. This had never before been communicated or enforced over the past 18 months. We have no issue with and respect a policy designed to protect staff and animals. However, we do take issue with being told one thing while another thing is done. 3. Avoidance of returning phone calls after requesting further information concerning events. Need for multiple callbacks without a return call. 4. During a phone call expressing disappointment, we requested our dog’s medical record. Of greatest concern, discrepancies with the staff’s accounts of events, management’s account of events, patient notes, and photograph of dog’s actual vs. reported injury indicate falsification of medical records (which were written after a complaint was lodged) in a clear CYA move by the FORTY32 Animal hospital. FORTY32 Animal Hospital’s response to our concern was to dismiss our pets from their care. If you value transparency, honesty, or accountability FORTY32 Animal Hospital is not the place for you. They will not hesitate to blatantly lie in order to drive the narrative necessary to exempt themselves from any wrongdoing.
Paid a few hundred dollars for a cleaning and medication for my bunnies ears. A little over a month later we checked his ears and they were right back to infected. As we don’t have another few hundred to put towards another treatment to possibly not work, we instead sought after buying the medication online. Because the ear ointment required a prescription, we called back only to get a refusal because they want it done “in office.” My business will continue elsewhere.
Dr. Owen is one of the kindest and most caring veterinarians that I’ve ever met, unfortunately it does not trickle down to his office staff. They are incompetent and rude. I will not be bringing any of my pets back because of them.
